C.O.P.E. In class

The other day when I was doing a wafer cutting activity (we were learning to cut a shape into an equal pieces) at first it was simple cutting the circles and squares then Mr. Anderson gave us a harder shape a rectangle, that is when it got hard. Me and my class mate Jack.C were persisting and not giving up, we sat there for about 10 minutes trying to work out how to cut the rectangle. In the end we figured it out.

Infrencing

What is Infrencing?

Infrencing is when you pick the clues out of the text and put them together to help guess what happens next. For an example: Thicky and Nobby find an old discarded bike near the railway tracks. Nobby thinks the bike is rubbish; Thicky, however, can see "potential" and they hatch a plan: each rider puts twenty cents in a jar, and the person who dares to ride the bike to the bottom of the hill, wins the loot. Thinking themselves pretty clever, Thicky and Nobby think they have it all sewn up, but will there be a surprise?

I inference that there is going to be a surprise.

Group Refection For W.I.T.

How did your group work together? (Did you cooperate, share the work, stay on task, persist when things got hard? Were you open-minded to each others’ ideas? How did you show empathy?)
We were working really good with our group mate for the first three weeks persisting thinking new ideas. And Working out things that got hard. And then we didn't work very well together and got split up. But when I was by myself working it made lots of things heaps more easy.

What were you pleased about in following the Te Ara Tika pathway to learn about first aid? (Think about each of the steps - what steps did you do well or made progress with?) We thought that the Te ara tika leaning sheet was good because it tells you what you need to make a wit and it shows you step by step how much prior knowledge you need, and helps with the task.

What skills in the Te Ara Tika pathway do you think you need to improve on and why?
I think I need to improve on my keywords because I forget my keywords sometimes. And also so I can expand my prior knowledge of words.

Now think about your google site. What are you really pleased about or had success with?
We’re really impressed that we learn't lots in this wit and I am happy of what I have done on my google site because I now know how to treat anaphylaxis and all the other. But there is some more info we need to add.

What do you think needs to be improved on your google site?
More info because we don’t have enough

Do you think your first aid google site does a good job of “effectively communicating” first aid skills? Why or why not? (Would you be happy with people using it to “Save a Mate”?
No because it does not have enough info.

What is one thing (skills, learning attitude) that each of you needs to improve on in our next W.I.T.? (Record each of your names with the thing to be improved)
Ben-keywords because I don’t use them very well.
Kaino-Prior Knowledge because I have a very bad memory so I need to work on that.
